What is a food business development consultant?

Put simply, I help food businesses step-change their revenues, or transform their food business in some other way. I started working with food in my teens, first-jobbed as a management consultant then fused skills to become a food business entrepreneur and consultant.

I co-founded London salad bar chain Chop'd in 2004, growing it to 6 stores and over £4M turnover before passing it to the management team to grow to 18 stores by 2016.  I've also worked in and on other people's food businesses - more than 10 over 20 years, in the UK and abroad. For 3 years I supported Caffe Nero Group as Head of Food for their premium cafe chain Harris + Hoole, including switching the bulk of their sandwich production instore during the first Covid wave in 2020. 

Also for Caffe Nero Group, for 2 years, I launched and supported the market entry of Caffe Nero Sweden, with the bulk of their savoury menu made fresh instore daily, expanding the relevant supply chain and kitchen operations from 1 to 8 stores during 2019.

I love food - putting good real food into busy real lives. I love business - development, strategy, planning and execution. I love helping people find solutions and create value. And I love a challenge - if it was easy, you would not need any help with it.
